Housing and Redevelopment Authority
 

The Housing and Redevelopment Authority is a separate public corporation established pursuant to TCA 13-20-401 et seq. It is comprised of a five-member (5) board appointed by the Mayor for five-year (5) terms, one of whom must be a housing authority resident.  Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:15 PM at the Housing Authority offices (alternating between Fort Shelby and Edgemont Towers).  Members must reside within the boundaries of the authority, which are the city plus 10 miles outside the city limits, but the 10-mile limit cannot extend into another city or state, or into the boundaries of another housing authority. 

Oversees administration of the Bristol Tennessee Housing and Redevelopment Authority. 

This board operates under state statute, rules/regulations and policies established by HUD.  The board has a fiscal authority and except as provided for under law does not report to City Council.
